Scleroderma Lung Clinic

Scleroderma is a chronic disease whose main feature is the build up of tough scar-like fibrous tissue in the skin. Less visible changes include damage to the cells lining the walls of small blood vessels. In the lung, this may result in shortness of breath and coughing.

An accurate diagnosis is essential followed by a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's status. At the Pacific Lung Health Centre, patients are seen by the rheumatologist and respirologist, who both have a special interest in this particular disease. They will help guide the treatment strategies in conjunction with the patient and their family physicians. Referrals can be made to the Mary Pack Arthritis Centre or GF Strong for further rehabilitation if recommended.
